Outline for Properly Breaking in Diesel Engines:
1) Fill engine with Shell Rotella T Triple Protection motor oil with Zinc 2) Don't run the engine hard for the first 50-100 miles; operate engine around peak torque (1500-1800 rpm) in high gear. 3) Don't let the engine run idle for more than 5 minutes during the first 100 miles. 4) At 1000 miles, pull a load on the engine requiring it to heat up. |
